Directions

Cut a 1 ½” length from the jumbo straw. Center the straw onto the 2” x 2” piece of washi paper and wrap it around the straw. Adhere the ends with double stick tape. Tuck in the excess washi paper on both ends of the straw. This is the body. Place a line of glue in the rim on one end of the straw and glue the kokeshi doll head on.

Fold the 2” x 2 ½” piece of washi paper in half, wrong side out. Place the piece on the fold as the pattern directs and trace and cut out the sleeve piece from the washi paper. Turn the piece print-side out. Place the chenille stem piece in the center fold and glue in place. Adhere the bottom loose ends together with double stick tape. Slightly curve the center and put a little glue on the center spot. Place the body onto the sleeves piece with the head just above the top of the sleeves and glue in place. You can adjust the sleeves as you wish because of the chenille stem.

Finishing touches – Fold the origami paper in half. Fan fold across the whole piece. Pinch one end and fan out the other side. Tie a small length of 1/8” ribbon to hold pinched end. Glue a flower and leaf to the fan. Place fan in the front of the doll and glue in place. Glue a small glittering hydrangea flower to the hole at the top of the head. Make a small bow with the 1/8” ribbon and glue to the head below the flower. Glue the pin back to the back of the doll.
